The Chair is a purely voluntary role at this point, suitable for someone with a good knowledge of football and specifically the modern women’s game, with a good reach and network of associates. The position reports into the board of Directors including Kelly-Ann along with Heath Groves and John McGregor. The Chair also manages the Secretary, Welfare Officer and Treasurer with another four committee advisors, as well as the regional and national public relations commitments – so this person needs to be media friendly, and not shy away from giving interviews when necessary.

Accrington Stanley Women now have 180 players across all their age groups and are officially linked to Accrington Stanley FC and Accrington Stanley Community Trust. The open-age team are in Northwest Women’s Regional League Division One and are managed by Head Coach Bryn Tracey.

Kelly-Ann Groves

Kelly-Ann Groves, Chair of Accrington Stanley Women, said: “We’ve brought in a new era of modernisation at Accrington Stanley Women that has set the bar for who we are, and where we want to be. Although my tenure has come to an end, I am truly excited to see just how far the next Chair can take the club; working alongside myself and the board members to implement the vision. Ocean, a player in our U-15s has just been called up for England Schoolgirls, and I know we have other potential Lionesses within our teams. I hope within the tenure of the next chair we achieve one of our biggest aims – to see an Accrington Stanley Women player reach Lioness standard.

“It is a great opportunity, working with some fantastic people and I will look forward to working with the Chair as I move forward to operate within the club at a truly strategic level.

“Myself, Sundown Solutions and my fellow Directors are 100% committed to the club, and now is the time for that growth to continue!

“If you have a passion for women’s football, and you think you could Chair our board effectively and continue our growth, please get in touch!”
