AC Milan midfielder Yacine Adli (22) is set to opt to play for Algeria. The former PSG youth product previously featured for France at international level, from the U16 to the U20 sides. Adli left Bordeaux for the Rossoneri last year following a €9m switch that included a loan back to Bordeaux for the rest of the campaign.

However, the 22-year-old attacking midfielder has yet to make an impact for the Stefano Pioli-led side. He has only appeared in five Serie A games this season, totalling a meagre 121 minutes of playing time, and has not featured in the team’s Champions League run to the semi-finals.

Nevertheless, Adli has set his heart on donning the green and white jersey of Algeria. Salah-Bey Abboud, the communications officer of the Algerian FA, has confirmed his nationality switch to DZ News, as pointed out by L’Equipe.Yacine Adli has opted for Algeria,” assessed Abboud. “The player showed a lot of interest and desire to join us. [Algeria manager] Djamel Belmadi preferred to let him focus on his club, because his situation is difficult. He will join us when he has regained his level.”
