The 2024 summer mercato came to an end at midnight and AC Milan made a total of seven signings for the first team, reinforcing various positions. Below, we take a look at the signings and the details of each, from the contract length to the transfer fee.
While the key details of every transfer are listed below, we would recommend signing up for our Substack to get our annual mercato financial breakdown when it drops. In that article, we will outline the exact costs for the Rossoneri and what that means for next summer. And, above all, should they have spent more?
Formula: Buy-out clause triggered Fee: €5m From: Real Madrid Contract: Until 2028 + one-year option
The talented full-back was signed on an initial loan deal last summer and Milan decided to exercise the buy-out this summer. There is supposedly a buy-back in favour of Real Madrid, but for now he’s with the Rossoneri permanently.
Formula: Permanent transfer Fee: €13m From: Atletico Madrid Contract: €5m per year until 2028 + one-year option
Replacing Olivier Giroud, the No.7 got off to a good start as he found the back of the net in the season opener. However, he’s currently out with a muscle injury and Milan are hoping to have him back after the break. Still, a great signing for that price.
Formula: Permanent transfer Fee: €18m plus €2m in bonuses From: RB Salzburg Contract: €1.5m per year until 2028 + one-year option.
Given the inconsistency of every centre-back except Matteo Gabbia last season, Milan decided enough was enough and brought in the Serbian to bolster the department. He has looked good so far and being left-footed, he already has an edge.
Formula: Permanent transfer Fee: €15m plus €2m in bonuses From: Tottenham Contract: €2.5m per year until 2028 + one-year option.
The most unpopular signing of the summer, that’s for sure, and his debut against Parma didn’t exactly prove the fans wrong. Tottenham wanted a lot more initially but eventually caved, the question is if Milan got a bargain or if Spurs played them.
Formula: Permanent transfer Fee:€23m plus €2m in bonuses From: Monaco Contract: €3m per year until 2028 + one-year option.
The most awaited signing of the summer, with Milan taking their time to close the deal with Monaco. An agreement was eventually reached but the feeling is that the Rossoneri could regret not bringing him in sooner.
Formula: Permanent transfer Fee: €2.5m plus €2.5m in bonuses From: Ajax Contract: Undisclosed salary until 2029
The young and talented midfielder was a late arrival for the Rossoneri, expected to help out both the first team and the Futuro side this season. Since he’s younger than 22, he will be able to feature in Serie A without being put on the squad list.
Formula: Season-long loan Fee: €1-1.5m for the loan From: Roma Contract: €4.5m plus bonuses for this season
This operation came to life in the final days of the mercato, with Milan and Roma settling for season-long loans instead of permanent moves for Tammy Abraham and Alexis Saelemaekers. The Rossoneri will pay the striker’s salary, plus a €1.5m loan fee, while the Giallorossi will just pay the winger’s salary.
