AC Milan have won their first Serie A title since 2011, beating Sassuolo on the final day of the season to lift the Scudetto.

I Rossoneri went into their final game of the season knowing that a win, or matching inner city rivals Inter's result, would be enough to secure the title, and they did just that.

They raced into a one goal lead in the 17th minute thanks to their star man Rafael Leao and continued to dominate thereafter, scoring a further two in front of a Mapei Stadium jam-packed with Milan fans.

Milan have been the most consistently impressive team in Italy in recent months, going 16 games unbeaten at the end of the campaign to fend off competition from Inter.

The highlights of this remarkable run of form including a vital derby win over Inter in February - with Olivier Giroud being the unlikely hero on that day - and a brilliant win over Atalanta in San Siro last week - a win wrapped up by a genuine goal of the season contender from Theo Hernandez.

Despite a number of key injuries, notably to defensive leader Simon Kjaer, this season, Stefano Pioli's side retained a brilliant level of performance all season and are deserved league winner.s
