It is one of the most anticipated fixtures of the season. Seven months after the last, AC Milan and Juventus will meet again for Matchday 13 of Serie A. A match that precedes the fixture already scheduled for the Super Cup at the start of 2025 and which represents, for Fonseca's team, an opportunity to climb up the standings and boost the morale of the entire Rossoneri team ahead of a demanding and exciting few weeks. We approach the kick-off, scheduled for 18:00 CET at San Siro, with our Match Preview.
LATEST FROM MILANELLO The Rossoneri come to this match after the 3-3 draw in Cagliari, a result that showed character and determination but also the need to improve defensive strength. The big match against Juve precedes the return to the Champions League, and Coach Fonseca's team is determined to regain victory in the league and take advantage of the home factor to get a positive result against the Bianconeri. Getting back some unavailable players - Gabbia and Morata above all - the condition of those who returned last from the national teams must be verified. Two formation doubts loom: one in the centre of defence (Tomori or Gabbia to partner with Thiaw) and one to complete the offensive line, with the trio formed by Chukwueze, Loftus-Cheek and Musah playing for a place in the department already formed by Leão, Pulisic and the aforementioned Morata, the great ex-Juve player of the day.
"It is an important match, not a decisive one. We are AC Milan and we have a lot of respect for Juventus, but there is no fear." These are the pre-match words from Mister Fonseca. "They are a team I like a lot, which has changed a lot compared to last year. I think the main dangers will come from the outside: we have worked a lot on the defensive aspect. In games like this we don't feel the pressure, but the motivation to do well. We need to win a few games in a row, and I think we are capable of doing that."
LATEST FROM JUVENTUS Positive approach to the match for the Bianconeri in terms of results, the only team still unbeaten after the first twelve days. The derby win against Torino was in fact their ninth clean sheet in the league, a fact that contrasts with a shaky path in Europe with a difficult match in Birmingham against Aston Villa looming in the week. However, Thiago Motta's team is restricted by a long list of unavailable players. To the already known absences of important players such as Bremer, González and Milik, further ones have been added: Adžić, Cabal, Douglas Luiz and Vlahović. Obligatory choices in defence - with the Kalulu-Gatti duo in the centre - and in general in the eleven with a possible chance for Weah as false nine. Watch out for Yıldız, already a key player at San Siro this season with a brace against Inter.
"AC Milan are a very strong team in transition, we will have to pay attention to this aspect regardless of the players," Thiago Motta said on the eve of the match. "It will be important to defend as a collective and never one-on-one. We will play our game trying to take it to our side, attacking and defending together, practising what suits us and not them. The championship is very competitive and we must try to get as many useful results as possible."
