Chelsea and AC Milan are holding talks over a move for Tiémoué Bakayoko.

The French midfielder joined the Blues from Monaco for €40m just a year ago but there is no place for him in Maurizio Sarri’s plans.

Now he looks set to move to Serie A, with Sky Italia naming Milan as his most likely destination.

Milan cannot pay a fee for Bakayoko this summer due to Financial Fair Play restrictions but have proposed a loan deal. There’s just one problem: Chelsea want to sell the player.

The Premier League club are hoping to insert an option or obligation to buy into the transfer but Milan are said to want just a one-year loan with no strings attached.

Though Chelsea cannot sign any new players after Thursday, there is another week before the window closes for Serie A clubs, so Bakayoko’s future does not have to be agreed this week.
