AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic discussed the Rossoneri’s disappointing 4-2 derby loss to rivals Inter in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia shortly after the game last night.
“It’s hard to explain. First half was almost perfect, second was totally backwards. At halftime we told ourselves to pay attention to the first 15 minutes of the second half, but we conceded two goals, and everything fell apart from there.”
The 38-year-old Swedish forward then spoke about the team’s preparations for the derby last night and their next game.
“We’d done everything, we’d prepared during the week on the pitch. Then we lost confidence after conceding the first goal. Losing a derby like that is tough, but we’re already thinking about Thursday’s match. In my opinion, in these matches, it’s also a question of experience.”
Finally, Ibrahimovic spoke about Inter and their performance in last night’s win.
“Inter? In the first half they didn’t seem like a top team to me, second place. Then in the second half they showed they were.”
Ibrahimovic, who is contracted to the Rossoneri until June of this year, scored his third goal of the season for the Milanese club in last night’s defeat, giving the club and their fans hope as the team went into the half 2-0 up.
However, an incredible comeback from Inter in the second half ensured that Ibrahimovic didn’t win his first Milanese derby since 2012.
The Rossoneri are now 10th in the league after 23 games, sitting 22 points behind rivals Inter. The Nerazzurri are at the top of the league table, tied on points with reigning champions Juventus, who lost to Hellas Verona on Saturday.
