Tottenham Hotspur are back on the market for a new centre-forward after losing Dominic Solanke to a long-term injury.
The north Londoners are going through a turbulent period, to say the least, and must act in the final few days of the transfer window to get their campaign back on track.
Ange Postecoglou’s troops are currently languishing in the bottom half of the table and are threading dangerously close to the relegation zone.
They sit in 15th place, just eight points above 18th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Postecoglou’s squad has been decimated by injuries this season and will require open-heart surgery to get the team firing on all cylinders again.
They’re expected to bolster every area of the squad, but signing a centre-forward to cover for the injured Solanke is now a priority.
Spurs have been linked with a number of strikers, but their long-standing target could be on the move to Serie A if they don’t act quickly.
AC Milan are intensifying their pursuit of Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez after their opening €30 million bid was rejected.
According to Italian news outlet Calciomercato, Milan are determined to secure the in-form forward and are preparing a new and improved offer in hopes of striking a deal with the Dutch powerhouse.
The 22-year-old Mexican international has been in electrifying form this season, further improving his reputation with a brace in Feyenoord’s 3-0 Champions League triumph over Bayern Munich earlier this week. Gimenez has now netted 15 goals in just 18 games across all competitions and has been touted as one of Europe’s hottest young talents.
Feyenoord understands the growing interest in their top striker and are demanding at least €45 million, including add-ons to sell.
However, there is a belief within Milan’s camp that a fee of around €40m might be enough to land their top target.
