AC Milan are still interested in signing Galatasaray playmaker and Tottenham Hotspur’s January transfer target Nicolo Zaniolo.

This is according to Italian outlet CalcioMercato, which mentions Milan’s long-standing interest in the Italy international. They apparently took steps to sign Zaniolo from AS Roma in January.

However, they did not have the financial bandwidth to sign him. The 23-year-old instead moved to Turkish giants Galatasaray for a fee of 15million Euros plus a 20% sell-on fee.

However, a move to Turkey doesn’t mean Zaniolo isn’t attracting interest from elsewhere. The former Inter Milan player apparently has a 35million Euros buy-out clause in his current contract at Galatasaray.

Spurs and Zaniolo

It remains to be seen if Milan have the money to meet such an asking price given they were priced out of a move last month. Football.London have mentioned that Spurs were also keen on signing Zaniolo in January.

Hence, a summer move for the Italian playmaker would make sense and it wouldn’t cost us a huge fortune. The fee quoted above is more than reasonable for a young and versatile player like Zaniolo.

Arnaut Danjuma is here only on a loan spell and would return to Villarreal this summer. Hence, Zaniolo can be a long-term acquisition for our frontline.

Moreover, he can play as a No. 10 – a profile we can really use right now in our team to diversify our threat in the final third. He is yet to make a single appearance for his new club, so it remains to be seen how he performs in the second half of the season.

If he shows he still has the hunger to be one of the world’s best, then Spurs should, by all means, rekindle their interest in him.
