AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli is expecting no further transfer business from his current employers with just four days left in the January window.
Milan have been linked with moves for Nicolo Zaniolo and Hakim Ziyech, but a deal for either player looks unlikely before Tuesday’s deadline.
Speaking ahead of his side’s league outing against Sassuolo tomorrow, the Rossoneri manager has revealed he is happy with the current state of his squad.
“We have the resources and qualities necessary to get out of this moment,” Pioli said in his pre-match press conference (via Gianluca Di Marzio).
“All the players must feel ready to overcome this moment – it’s the first time since I’ve been at Milan that we haven’t won for five games.
“The club has expressed its opinion, We’re fine like this”
The reigning Italian champions are currently on a run of just one win in nine matches across all competitions. Pioli is urging his side to focus only on the matches to come starting with tomorrow’s encounter.
“Thinking too much about the previous games won’t help us,” the 57-year-old added.
“We are happy to play in front of our fans – they have helped us a lot. It’s up to us to prove we deserve their support.
“The last three games have been negative overall, but there are many things we can do better. It’s the team that has to help the individuals.”
Off the back of a heavy 4-0 defeat against Lazio last time out, Milan have fallen a whopping 12 points adrift of Napoli at the top of the Serie A standings midway through the 2022-23 campaign.
Ahead of a tough run of matches which sees them play Inter Milan, Atalanta, Fiorentina and Tottenham Hotspur (twice) in the next six weeks, Milan will be keen to get themselves back to winning ways as soon as possible.
