Legendary former AC Milan midfielder Alessandro Costacurta believes that while Inter played very well and deserved their 3-0 win over Roma, the Giallorossi were also architects of their own demise.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the Rossoneri legend made the point that the Giallorossi’s passive performance was responsible for the result in addition to the Nerazzurr’s dominant display.

The Nerazzurri were in firm control for virtually the entire ninety minutes against Jose Mourinho’s Roma side, with the first half in particular having seen them overwhelm their opposition.

Inter looked physically, technically, and tactically extremely sharp as they cut apart a Giallorossi side who didn’t look to have any answers, but as Costacurta argued, this was also the fault of the capital club.

Inter were not put under much pressure on the ball, found spaces to exploit, and capitalized on individual errors as they faced an opponent who lacked inspiration and a number of key players, and looked like it.

Costacurta stated that “It was fair to expect something more from Roma, something different. Inter played very well, but there were mistakes from the homes side, which Mourinho also highlighted.”
