AC Milan hero Alessandro Nesta was delighted seeing his old club confirmed Serie A champions on Sunday.

Nesta, however, the challenge for the Rossonero is now to open up a "winning cycle".

He told TMW: "Milan have done something special, because on paper they started as the third-to-fourth force in the league. I congratulate (Stefano) Pioli, (Paolo) Maldini and (Ricky) Massara, who they created the conditions to win.

"AC Milan's game this year also enhanced many individuals, in defence I am thinking of (Pierre) Kalulu and (Fikayo) Tomori for example.

"The details are two-to-three: important players left, but no one made any dramas.

"Second thing: Milan have never complained about anything and has always believed in it. Complaining creates alibis for the players."

Nesta added: "(Silvio) Berlusconi raised the bar every year, it's not easy. Today's AC Milan is built with less expense and less investment, albeit with a very specific identity. It will be difficult to confirm itself, there are also the opponents. Let's see for example how Juventus will move in the market."
