AC Milan could sign Federico Chiesa in a swap deal with Juventus amid links to Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Offloading Chiesa looks to be one of Juventus’ big priorities for the final weeks of the summer transfer window.
The former FIorentina winger does not figure into the plans of new Bianconeri coach Thiago Motta.
Chiesa is on high wages. Juventus would certainly be happy to get rid of those, and make room for new attacking signings.
And on top of that, there is Chiesa’s contract situation.
The Italian international’s deal with Juventus runs until the end of next June.
Therefore, this summer would represent the last opportunity for the Turin giants to cash in on Chiesa. Otherwise they’d have to either sell him for a cut-price fee in January, or lose him for nothing when his deal expires.
Juventus have certainly listened to all offers for Chiesa this summer.
There has been tentative interest from the likes of Roma and Napoli. But these clubs appear to have gone in other directions.
Then there have been the persistent links with Inter.
The Nerazzurri have reportedly been keeping an eye on Chiesa’s situation.
This has been more in view of a potential free transfer next summer. Inter are not exactly strangers to a big name free transfer signing.
There have also been some murmurs that Inter could even try and sign Chiesa this summer.
But according to Tuttosport, it could instead be Inter’s city rivals AC Milan who make the move to sign Chiesa.
The newspaper reports that the Rossoneri are mulling over a swap deal.
This would involve sending winger Alexis Saelemakers to Juventus as part of the deal. Saelemakers spent last season on loan with Bologna.
