AC Milan Coach Stefano Pioli: “We Can Keep Pace With Inter By Winning The Derby” | OneFootball

AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli believes that the Rossoneri can get themselves completely back into the Scudetto race if they manage to beat Inter in the derby.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN before the Rossoneri’s goalless draw with Juventus yesterday evening, the coach emphasized that the derby on the first match back from the international break gives his team the opportunity to keep in touch.

In the first Milan derby of the season, the situation in the Serie A table was quite different, with the Rossoneri and also Napoli seven points clear of the Nerazzurri at the top of the table.

Now, however, Inter enjoy a four-point lead at the top of the table, with a game in hand on both rivals.

The Milan derby could have massive Scudetto implications, while the Rossoneri also see Inter and Napoli play each other the following weekend, and Pioli believes that his team have a golden opportunity to claw back the deficit.

“If we win the derby we can still keep pace with Inter,” he said, “if we don’t succeed then it will be a season like the last one, in which we finished second on the final day but went in knowing we could have finished fifth.”
