Marcus Thuram is reportedly on the cusp of signing a multi-year contract with AC Milan after halting his four-year spell at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Calciomercato’s Daniele Longo reports negotiations between the Rossoneri and the 25-year-old have entered the final stage, suggesting the deal could go through within the next 48 hours.

Thuram refused to extend his contract at Gladbach and has been free to negotiate personal terms with other clubs over the past few months.

Several Premier League clubs and Inter Milan have been on the Frenchman’s tail for months, while Paris Saint-Germain emerged as another potential destination for the versatile forward.

However, Milan are on the verge of winning the race as they’ve accelerated talks with the ex-Guingamp man in the past few days, offering him €4 million net per season.

Milan have taken advantage of PSG’s pursuit of a new manager to beat them to Thuram’s signature, as they wouldn’t stand a chance against Les Parisiens in a bidding war.

If the deal materialises, he will become the latest French star to join the Rossoneri after Theo Hernandez and Olivier Giroud, who may have influenced their countryman’s decision to move to the San Siro.

While waiting for the Frenchman’s arrival, the Italians have set their sights on the highly-rated Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi, who’s poised to leave the Mapei Stadium in search of a more exclusive destination.

If Tonali moves to St James’ Park, Pioli won’t have any other option but to pursue a deal for a top-class replacement to replace his best-performing midfielder.

That’s where Frattesi comes in, but the Rossoneri may have to step up their chase of the Sassuolo man to avoid the risk of losing him to bitter city rivals.
