Theo Hernandez scored an outrageous solo goal as AC Milan took a giant step towards the Serie A title on Sunday afternoon.

AC Milan went into their game against Atalanta at San Siro knowing a win would see them go five points clear from fierce rivals, Inter Milan.

Stefano Pioli’s side looked as if they may drop points with the score still goalless at half-time.

But Rafael Leao’s goal gave them the lead in the 58th minute.

Hernandez then scored a Puskas Award contender to make the points safe in the 75th minute.

The French left-back picked up the ball just outside Milan’s box.

He proceeded to run 70 yards, racing past multiple Atalanta players on the way, before dispatching his shot past Juan Musso and into the corner of the net.

It was a quite incredible goal and you can watch it below…

Wow. Theo Hernandez: take a bow. To run that far, and then still have the composure to find the net, is just special.

Son Heung-min won the 2020 Puskas Award with a very similar goal for Tottenham against Burnley. On that basis, Hernandez must be in with a chance of winning this year’s prize.

There were no further goals as AC Milan held on to a valuable three points.

Inter need to beat Cagliari on Sunday evening to take the title race to the final day.

Should Inter fail to win, AC Milan will be crowned Italian champions for the first time since 2011.
