Football.London have all the quotes from Thomas Tuchel’s press conference today ahead of the game against Brentford, and as always the coach was full of interesting words.

After two weeks without his players, he was asked whether getting them back on track after the international break would be the trickiest part, and he was in full agreement:

“Absolutely. To recreate the feeling, momentum and energy that every team needs to wins games is the big challenge. It’s always difficult after travelling and games for different teams, in different countries and different styles of play,” Tuchel said.

“It’s always a challenge to restart the engine and the momentum. We can call it mentality or whatever, it’s not so easy but, on the other hand, we are used to it and it’s good that we are aware things can be difficult.”

Most big teams like Chelsea struggle after an international break, especially when they face a team like Brentford, who had far fewer players away with their respective national teams.

It will create some interesting dilemmas for team selection too – do you go with the established players in form who have been playing for their country as recently as two days ago? Or the alternatives who weren’t in the team before, but are fresher and have been with you in training all week?

We will find out tomorrow when the teams come out. We suspect there will be some interesting changes, that’s for sure.
