Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti’s handling of the club’s recent injury troubles has been “absolutely superb.”

That is according to Darren Bent speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Everton recorded an impressive victory against Wolves despite being without Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Richarlison has been out for a month after suffering a head injury against Manchester United while Calvert-Lewin is sidelined with a hamstring problem sustained 1 January.

Yet Everton have maintained their strong form, losing just once in the last nine league matches.

This positive run of results leaves them two points outside the Champions League places with a game in hand and is indicative of how well-coached they are by Ancelotti, according to Bent.

He’s well-drilled, he’ll always have them ready to play,” he told Football Insider.

“Calvert-Lewin has been missing for a couple of games now, but I don’t think he’d scored for seven games as well and they’re still finding a way to get the job done — so absolutely superb in terms of that.

“For Everton, you’ve got to see that as a positive. You’re missing two of your best players and you’re still managing to get a result. A lot of teams go to pot when that happens.

“Well done Ancelotti but I never expected any less.”

While there is no fixed date for a Calvert-Lewin return, Richarlison is back in training and is expected to be available for Everton’s next league match against Leicester City on 27 January.

The Toffees will be without Abdoulaye Doucoure for the fixture, with the midfielder serving a one-match ban after picking up a fifth yellow card of the season against Wolves.
