Celtic defender Greg Taylor has withdrawn from Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad due to injury. The Celtic left-back was subbed off during the defeat to Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League due to a calf injury, which ruled him out of the win over Ross County on Sunday. Now, the 26-year-old has been forced to pull out of the Scotland squad for their upcoming Nations League games.

Clarke’s side travel to Zagreb to face Croatia before hosting Portugal at Hampden on Tuesday. However, they will do so without Taylor. Clarke has wasted no time in deciding to call upon a replacement, bringing in Aberdeen’s Jack MacKenzie. The 24-year-old has impressed under Jimmy Thelin as they sit second behind Brendan Rodgers’ side, albeit on goal difference.

Celtic will face Aberdeen in the first game back after the break as Celtic look to put some distance between themselves and the Pittodrie outfit. Thelin has brought about a real change in AB24, turning the team that struggled last season into an impressive side that many are speculating could put significant pressure on both Celtic and last season’s runners-up from Ibrox.
