Aberdeen have announced that the club have parted company with Jim Goodwin after their 6-0 loss against Hibernian on Saturday afternoon.

The decision came less than 30 minutes of the full-time whistle at Easter Road, where the Irishman was dismissed following a dismal recent run of form.

Prior to the defeat in the capital, his side became the first top flight team to be knocked out of the Scottish Cup by a non-league side for 57 years when they lost at Darvel earlier this week.

The club cited those as part of the ‘unacceptable run of results since the World Cup break’, with the Dons having registered just one win in their eight games since returning.

Paul Lambert is reportedly cited as the current favourite to take over at Pittodrie, with Jack Ross also under consideration.
