Few outside of France had ever heard of Abdoulaye Doucouré when Watford signed him from Rennes in January 2016 in an €11m deal.

Three years later, with a contract that doesn’t expire until 2023, Doucouré’s eventual sale could break Richarlison’s club-record €40m departure to Everton that may rise to €55m with add-ons.

However, Watford have been adamant that the 26-year-old Frenchman is not for sale in the January window.

On Monday night, Doucouré spoke on a TV programme on RMC Sport and discussed his popular links to PSG.

“PSG are the club I grew up supporting in Les Mureaux. They are so close to my heart.

“To hear that such clubs are interested in you, it’s a pleasure,” Doucouré admitted.

“I think a club like PSG looks for a lot of players, has a lot of tracks, and that I’m not the only one.

“It is true that my performance has been positive, so we’ll see. I’m glad to evolve at Watford and that the club trusts me.

“If clubs are interested in me, of course it is flattering. I’m happy.”

The midfielder refused to make the rumors go away and said it’s possible that he could make the switch one day.

“With my characteristics, it is true that there are not many players with these qualities.

“If PSG really inquired about me and wanted to make me one of their players, I would be very happy.

“I have my qualities, I also have my faults to erase. I have to make better recoveries and improve technically – areas in which I must take a big step.

“I have my qualities that everyone knows about, either you like me, or you do not.

“I’m happy with what I’m doing at Watford.”
