Aaron Ramsdale ends Arsenal ordeal with Southampton move

Aaron Ramsdale’s frustrating spell at Arsenal has been brought to an end with a permanent move to Southampton.

Ramsdale fell out of favour at the Emirates Stadium following last summer’s arrival of David Raya on loan from Brentford.

A decision to make Raya’s stay permanent heading into this season left the writing on the wall for the Gunners’ second in command.

The England international attracted interest from Wolves as well as the Saints before the former turned to alternative targets.

Russell Martin’s side have paid a reported £18m upfront to make Ramsdale their latest recruit in a bid to preserve their Premier League status.
