A Xavi Simons and RB Leipzig seperation in the summer is likely

Sport Bild reports that it is increasingly likely that Xavi Simons will leave RB Leipzig in the summer, despite the club only signing him permanently earlier this year.

If RB Leipzig fails to qualify for the Champions League, which looks increasingly possible week by week, then it is very likely that Simons will leave in the summer. Recently there have been rumours that the 21-year-old has caused disruption in the dressing room.

In the winter, Leipzig completed the signing of Simons for €50m and €30m in bonuses. However, for most of the second half of the season, Simons has failed to live up to his potential and ability, like the rest of the Leipzig squad and his seven goals and four assists is seen as too little.

If a sale materialises, Leipzig are more than likely to make a profit on the Dutch international, and he is already attracting interest from the Premier League.

Bild reports that Leipzig are interested in Mainz’s Nadiem Amiri. Whether he is a replacement or not is yet to be seen, but if Mainz qualify for the Champions League in Leipzig’s place, there would be little understanding in leaving the club that helped revive Amiri’s career.
