In the coming weeks, one of Paris Saint-Germain’s marquee matches will be their UEFA Champions League clash against Arsenal on October 1 at Emirates Stadium. However, the Gunners will be down one star player when the Parisians travel to North London.
The past FIFA international window hasn’t been kind to Arsenal as their captain Martin Ødegaard. Initially, Le Parisien recently reported that Ødegaard may miss the Champions League match against PSG on October 1.
When the injury initially happened, Norway’s national team doctor estimated that the midfielder would need at least three weeks to recover from an ankle injury. Nonetheless, now it seems the player will be out for a while as manager Mikel Arteta.
“After recent scans the scans showed that he’s got some damage especially on one of the ligaments in the ankle,” Arteta said (h/t The Mirror). “It’s something quite significant so we’re going to lose him for a while.”
The Premier League side will need to overcome a massive absence from their squad as they attempt to advance in the league phase of the competition. It will be interesting to see if PSG can go without significant issues when these two clubs clash in a couple of weeks.
