A subtle hint? Real Madrid target names Sergio Ramos as best Ligue 1 defender | OneFootball

The latest comments on the part of LOSC Lille sensation Leny Yoro will no doubt pique attentions across the fanbase of La Liga giants Real Madrid.

As much comes after the Blancos transfer target revealed his fondness for an iconic former member of the defensive ranks in Spain’s capital.

The player in question? Sergio Ramos.

Spanish international Ramos is of course widely considered to be one of the greatest players in the storied history of Real Madrid.

The now-Sevilla man lined out for the capital outfit for 16 years through 2021, racking up five La Liga titles, four Champions Leagues, and a whole host of further silverware along the way.

And, as alluded to above, such endeavours on Ramos’ part did not go at all unappreciated by a player who himself could yet go on to define an era at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Speaking in an interview with Oh My Goal on Tuesday, Leny Yoro, hotly tipped to make the move to Real Madrid this summer, was asked to name the greatest central defender whom he has ever seen lining out in Ligue 1.

And, despite the Paris Saint-Germain years of his career having proven some way short of those he enjoyed in Spain, the 18-year-old nevertheless went on to name Ramos as ‘number 1’:

“Best centre-backs I’ve seen in Ligue 1? Number 1 is Sergio Ramos. An incredible defender who inspired a lot of young players like myself when I was little.”
