Norwich City are in search for a new manager following the sacking of David Wagner last week, with Will Still one of the names in the hat to succeed in the dugout at Carrow Road.

Norwich's promotion hopes ended recently after they were comprehensively beaten 4-0 by Leeds United at Elland Road in their play-off semi-final second-leg after a 0-0 draw at Carrow Road in the first-leg, and Wagner was subsequently dismissed less than 24 hours after the game.

In the statement announcing Wagner's departure, Sporting Director Ben Knapper revealed that the club are hoping to make an appointment in the "near future", and a number of managers have been linked with the vacancy in recent days.

As first reported by Talk Norwich City and BBC Norfolk's Chris Reeve, Norwich have held talks with former Reims boss, Will Still. The 31-year-old has been at the Canaries’ training ground earlier this week amid interest in his appointment.

Still made the headlines when he took charge of Reims at the age of 30 last season, and he went unbeaten in his first 17 league games. In doing so, the club was fined €25,000 every game due to not holding a UEFA Pro License.

Norwich face competition regarding Still, who has also been linked with the vacant managerial position at Sunderland. Despite his recent availability, the Black Cats' interest does not seem to have progressed, and he has now emerged on the Canaries' radar.

Norwich City fan pundit not convinced on Will Still's credentials

FLW's Norwich fan pundit, Zeke Downes, is unsure of Still, with so many of the names linked with the managerial vacancy of a similar background from a tactical and stylistic point of view.

He told Football League World: "Still is a strange one, because we've all obviously heard about him.

"But none of us are really qualified enough to know much about him at all.

"We know he did fairly well with Stade de Reims, but I don't know if that's going to be enough, as it did seem to end poorly with them. "I know that he is a young manager who likes to play attacking football, but it's hard to tell what the style is relly going to be like without seeing it. "I wouldn't be against it, but there are a lot of other candidates that are similar, at least in terms of age profile and the style being that they want to play attacking football.

Norwich City in talks with 51-year-old manager amid Johannes Thorup and Will Still links

Norwich City are holding in person talks with Pascal Jansen, amid recent recent reports linking Will Still and Johannes Hoff Thorup with the vacancy.

Will Still has plenty of competition for Norwich City job

Still is a manager who has already shown just how good he can be, by exceeding his and, arguably, Reims' expectations with what he did for the club over the last few seasons.

He is one of the most promising young coaches in Europe, and marrying that up with a man of Knapper's talents behind the scenes could be a major recipe for success, if they can also nail recruitment this summer.

However, there is also the question of attainability, with his stock rising all the time. With that in mind, it does feel as though the pressure is now on Norwich to ensure they can tie someone down quickly.

Sunderland may still be sniffing about, but Norwich clearly have other options to consider - former AZ Alkmaar boss Pascal Jansen has been at the Colney training base for talks this week, whilst Nordsjaelland's 35-year-old boss Johannes Thorup is another under consideration.

There are a lot of similar profiles to Still that are being touted with the City vacancy, and it may mean that the Belgium-born coach might not end up being the best fit for the Canaries.
