Paris Saint-Germain will have several loanees returning this summer and one is Georginio Wijnaldum. Get Italian Football News reported that AS Roma will not exercise the option to buy clause on the loan for the veteran midfielder.

As a result, the 32-year-old will have to return to the French capital, where he has one year remaining on his current deal. Wijnaldum’s stint in Rome didn’t get off on the right foot, which might have hindered his chances of staying with the Serie A side.

Wijnaldum sustained a fractured tibia in his right leg last August, causing the former Liverpool man to miss the 2022 FIFA World Cup. However, a March report revealed that Roma wanted to work out another loan agreement.

Nonetheless, it seems PSG wants to offload the player permanently and move on from the disastrous signing. Wijnaldum hopes his performance at Roma after he returned from injury is enough for another club to take a chance on him for the 2023-24 season.
