One Manchester City youngster who did appear set for a big 24/25 season was Oscar Bobb. He was City’s star performer during their pre-season tour of the United States. Bobb also put in a sparkling display against Manchester United during Manchester City’s FA Community Shield win. But a fractured leg on the eve of the season derailed Bobb’s season.
Oscar Bobb has since suffered an injury setback during his initial comeback from the fractured leg he sustained. An ankle injury has further delayed his return to the pitch. But he has returned to training once again. Pep Guardiola has today provided a fresh update on Oscar Bobb’s status and it does seem that he will return to the pitch sooner rather than later.
Pep Guardiola was asked about Oscar Bobb’s progress ahead of his team’s FA Cup fifth-round tie against Plymouth Argyle. Guardiola provided a promising update on Bobb’s progress. He told the media: “He’s getting better, trained yesterday, and today as well. But he’s been [out] longer than we expect, but hopefully he can finish his part and can help us in the last part of the season. We want to help him desperately and of course, it’s a tough period for him. Always there is light at the end of the tunnel, always it has been like that in life, in sport especially.”
It does finally seem that Oscar Bobb is edging closer to a return to the Manchester City squad. This season has been a frustrating one for the Norwegian international. The fractured leg has derailed his season but the remainder of this season could be used as an opportunity for Bobb to prepare for the 25/26 season. That’s the only silver lining to what has been a torrid 24/25 campaign for the young winger.
