‘A pleasure’ – Sevilla loanee confirms departure | OneFootball

A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga outfit Sevilla has on Tuesday confirmed his imminent departure from the club.

The player in question? Boubakary Soumaré.

Soumaré, for his part, linked up with Sevilla last summer, on a season-long loan deal from English club Leicester City.

After a difficult first half to the campaign, the 25-year-old soon grew in prominence, ultimately establishing himself as an important member of boss Quique’s engine room setup.

All told, Soumaré was afforded starts in 26 of the Nervionenses’ 38 La Liga fixtures.

Last weekend’s meeting with Barcelona, however, marked the Frenchman’s very last at The Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

This comes with Sevilla, amid a dire financial situation at present, unable to come even close to meeting the €15 million option to buy included in Soumaré’s contract with the club.

Taking to his official social media platforms (as cited by Mundo Deportivo) on Tuesday, the midfielder, in turn, bid a short and sweet farewell to all associated with Sevilla:

“It has been a pleasure, thank you for everything Sevillistas.”
