A match day focused on solidarity

Article image:A match day focused on solidarity

This October, the 22th campaign weeks for diversity in football are taking place across Europe. In the whole of Austria, football clubs, fans and campaigns are supporting diversity and social solidarity from 7 to 31 October. The focus in 2021 is the theme of solidarity and how sport can play a part in bridging social and economic divides. We are taking part again and are using the big match against Sturm Graz to raise awareness for this issue.

The activities in Austria are organised by the fairplay initiative and coordinated in co-operation with the Austrian football association (ÖFB) and Austrian football Bundesliga (ÖFBL).

We are hosting the following activities, among others, as part of the initiative:

#SolidaritY! Stadium adjustments: new wheelchair positions

In co-operation with the council for people with disabilities in the city of Salzburg we have redesigned our stadium to offer newly improved wheelchair spots, among others. We have also adjusted the ticketing strategy for people with disabilities to make entrance for accompanying persons easier and make season tickets available.

For disabled people able to walk there are no longer specific sectors, and they are free to take their choice of seats (with a free ticket for an accompanying person) in the entire East or North stands or Northwest Corner, subject to availability.

The wheelchair car park (bus terminal) will now be available for every match.

Information on all of these topics is provided by a new inclusion subpage on our club homepage, which summarises all the key information for disabled people.

#Solidarity! cups donated to Wings for Life

A deposit is charged on all cups at our home matches in aid of sustainability. You have the opportunity to donate a cup for a good cause (instead of reclaiming the deposit) by leaving it at a central collection point. The 2 Euro deposit per cup will be donated to Wings for Life, a foundation dedicated to the research and treatment of spinal cord injuries. In the current season over 20,000 Euro has been raised in this way.

#SolidaritY! SHIRT AUCTION TO AID Sporthilfe

The shirts worn by our boys in the big Austrian Bundesliga clash v SK Rapid Vienna have been auctioned off to benefit the Austrian Sporthilfe organisation. 11,000 Euro was raised to allow it to support athletes.
