After a move for Joao Cancelo appeared on the horizon it now appears that Cancelo is set to find his way to Al Hilal. That is good news for Manchester City as they look set to sell a player who didn’t have a future with the club.

Fabrizio Romano has reported via X that Joao Cancelo has completed his medical with Al Hilal. Furthermore, Romano reports that the documents to make the deal official will be signed in the next few hours. Lastly, Romano reports that Manchester City will receive up to €25 million for the Portuguese international.

With Joao Cancelo’s future appearing to be resolved that is a successful move for Manchester City.

With a deal to sell Joao Cancelo almost complete that can be considered a win for the world champions. They will be selling a player who was surplus to requirements at the club. Furthermore, they will also remove his sizable salary from their books. That is shrewd business from Manchester City.

The fact they have also picked up a decent transfer fee for Cancelo is a bonus. Given that Joao Cancelo is 30 years of age the champions have done well to cash in on the full-back. It also removes the annual saga of where the Portuguese international will play resurfacing in the future. All told that is a win for Manchester City. It is also a positive for Joao Cancelo as he now has security for the latter stages of his career.

A messy situation appears to have been avoided for both Joao Cancelo and Manchester City. His imminent move to Al Hilal solves one of City’s major problems this summer.
