Tom Lawrence has been a great attacking force for Derby County through all the adversity they have faced in the last month or so.

The Wales international produced an emphatic brace in the Rams’ dramatic 3-2 win over Bournemouth to push County back up to zero points and has also taken the armband this term in what must have been a tough time to act as a leader in the group.

Wayne Rooney has been commended for a lot of his hard work and decisions this season but getting the best out of Lawrence has to be right up there with the 27-year-old a standout player for individual quality amongst the squad.

FLW writer Billy Mulley had his say on Lawrence’s fine form, putting forward a case for him to win FLW Fans’ Player of the Month for November on FLW TV this morning.

He said: “There’s a lot of pressure on his shoulders as captain and as a creative outlet, he’s a talismanic figure.

“There’s a lot of things to like about Lawrence at the moment, he’s been a good player at Championship level for a while now. At Derby he’s performing out of his skin.”

The task of staying up in the Championship this term was going to be difficult enough without any points deductions, so for Derby to have picked 22 points, which would put them in 19th ahead of tonight’s hosting of Queens Park Rangers, speaks volumes to the job Rooney is doing.

January is set to be an intriguing month for Tom Lawrence, with his contract running down and as one of the highest earners at the club there is a chance he departs, but should that happen he will leave with the best wishes of the fan base especially so following his brilliant performances so far this season.
