Paris' Stade de France is set to host Saturday's Champions League final which pits Real Madrid against Liverpool as the Whites look to clinch a 14th European Cup (9:00pm CEST). Located in the Saint Denis district of the French capital, the stadium was built for the 1998 World Cup and is remembered fondly by madridistas as the venue where the team secured La Octava.

This will be the third time the Stade de France hosts a Champions League final, having done so in 2000 and 2006. In the first of the two, Real Madrid were crowned champions when they beat Valencia (3-0) thanks to goals for Morientes, McManaman and Raúl. The ground has previously been the venue for other big games in world football including the Confederations Cup in 2003 and the Euros in 2016. It is also the home stadium of the French national football and rugby teams and is set to welcome the Olympic Games in 2024.

Paris Paris is where Real Madrid's legendary status in the European Cup began to take shape, when they got their hands on the inaugural trophy at the Parc des Princes back in 1956. Our team will now be hoping to secure the title on French soil once more, this time at the Stade de France, which would become the third stadium where Real Madrid have lifted two European Cups, after Heysel in Brussels (La Tercera and La Sexta) and Glasgow's Hampden Park (La Quinta and La Novena).
