Former Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane has criticised Ruben Amorim for one of the claims he has made.
The Man United manager has claimed that his side is making progress but Keane has slammed the Portuguese manager by disagreeing with him.
The Red Devils head into the Manchester derby in 14th position in the league which is their worst position in the league at this stage.
In his programme notes, the United boss said:
“It is clear to see we are making progress in our performances.”
This comment has angered Keane who has had a go at the manager ahead of the Manchester derby in the Sky Sports studio.
The legendary midfielder has responded by saying, as reported by Manchester Evening News:
“Not from what we’re seeing. Whether he’s seeing something on the training ground, a bit more spirit and a bit more fight.
“I don’t see it in the few games I’ve watched recently. Come back to the (Nottingham) Forest game, they got a few plaudits for their possession, being neat and tidy but when people say they were neat and tidy, what the hell does that mean? Being neat and tidy.”
He added:
“It’s really important to score goals in football and United’s goal scoring record, the attacking players they’ve got aren’t doing the business.
“That’s where they’ve been really lacking, the goals for. I think even Wolves have scored more goals than them and that’s a huge problem.
“They’re not dynamic, they’re not mobile. They’ve showed a little bit of spirit, a couple of weeks ago at home to Arsenal but the standard of the game wasn’t great, there was no edge to it.
“So I don’t see where the manager is coming from. I wouldn’t agree on that. I’ve not seen that much progress.
“The fact is, they don’t dig in, they lose too many matches. They’ve lost 13 already this year, 14 last season.
“So even when they’re not at their best they don’t dig in, they don’t roll their sleeves up, I don’t like the spine of the team.”

It is hard to disagree with Keane when the record of the team is so poor this season.
Even after the departure of Erik ten Hag and since the arrival of Amorim at the club, the standards have still not improved.
Amorim has lost 11 of his 29 matches in all competitions and it shows that the problems are still there and a lot of work needs to be done in the summer in terms of transfer and on the training ground to improve the level of football.
If there is improvement, it needs to convert into performances and results, which is sadly not the case at the moment.
