Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has labelled the injury to Jordan Henderson a huge blow as the Reds’ fitness woes continue.

It’s been a torrid season for fitness issues for the Reds this campaign with several injury problems mounting particularly at centre-back.

Indeed, that position seems to be cursed this year almost with Henderson now out for several weeks with a groin problem that he picked up last weekend at centre-back playing against Everton.

Another headache for the Reds to deal with, then, and left-back Robertson admits that it is a real setback for the team.

He said via the club’s official website:

“A huge blow for us, losing your captain is never good. He knows how influential he is in the changing room, anything he says is listened to in the training ground. But now he just needs to look after himself and not worry about us.”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Henderson was the latest to have to fill in at centre-back following on from the injuries to the likes of Fabinho and Joel Matip and it does seem at the moment as one comes back another is knocked out for a few weeks.

Henderson was missed in midfield and now we’re not going to have him in the side ahead of an intense run of fixtures so that is a real shame.

The Reds must get on with it, though, and rise to the challenge with those that are fit and available before this season really does become one to forget.

There’s still plenty to play for, let’s start with Sheffield United tomorrow.
