The Santa Ana, California native has made his way back home. This is the second time in Christian Ramirez's soccer career that he plays for an LA-based team in Major League Soccer.

The 6'2'' forward played two seasons for LAFC (2018 & 2019) after spending five seasons in a six year span with Minnesota United FC. In 138 appearances, Ramirez scored 71 times.

When teammate Pablo Campos went down with an injury, Ramirez was called upon to fill in for him. The team was with the North American Soccer League then, prior to its move to MLS in 2017.

On March 3rd, 2017, Ramirez scored the first ever goal for Minnesota United FC in their MLS history. It was the team's only score as they lost to the Portland Timbers, 5-1.

What does this Saturday mean for Christian Ramirez?

Saturday, the 33-year-old takes the field in Minnesota, again. This time, he does so as a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy. Ramirez was brought on days after the Galaxy traded Serbian striker Dejan Joveljic.

Ramirez has won an MLS Cup before. He did so as a member of the Columbus Crew in 2023, a season before the LA Galaxy's sixth title. In two seasons with the Crew, the former Charlotte Eagle played in 55 games and scored 16 times.

As he will turn 34 at the beginning of April, Ramirez realizes that he does not have too many seasons left on the field. Thus, why he envisioned another MLS Cup title run with the winningest franchise in the league.

When the LA Galaxy take the field against Minnesota, it will mean Ramirez is facing off against his first ever MLS team. He was the leading scorer in the team's first season in the league.

While he helped put that team on the map, he aims to help his new team take Minnesota down a peg. The Galaxy's next opponent currently is in fifth place at 2-1-1 as the defending MLS champions are winless (0-1-3).

Ramirez scored his first goal of the 2025 regular season in the 1-1 draw against the Portland Timbers. The LA Galaxy will need more production like that if they look to claim their first victory of the new season and rise above the bottom spot in the MLS Western Conference standings.

The two teams will do battle once more later in the season when the Los Angeles Galaxy host Minnesota in the season finale on Saturday, October 18 at Dignity Health Sports Park.
