Klopp defends Solskjaer regarding his Manchester United team selection vs Leicester

According to Manchester Evening News, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has come to the defence of Manchester United counterpart Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Norwegian has drawn flak for making ten changes to the side that faced off against Leicester City in what turned out to be a win for the Foxes. This gave them the edge over Liverpool in the race for a top-four finish.

With United set to face Liverpool tomorrow, it can be argued that the Red Devils sabotaged their arch-rivals from attaining their objective.

Klopp, however, expressed sympathy for the United boss, going as far as to calling United’s schedule a crime. Solskjaer’s lineup came as no surprise to Jurgen yesterday night.

“It was the line-up I expected. He has to make these changes. I said it 500 times – to play Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday is a crime.”

Rather than worry about what Solskjaer does, Klopp remains focused on his side and their inability to get the results they needed.

“We don’t blame anyone but ourselves. Now we need help from other teams [to get into Champions League], but it’s the best we could get and we will deal with that.’

Klopp is not a stranger to unfair schedules in England. If anything, the German and his side were handed an impossible situation last season when they were forced to play in the Club World Cup and the League Cup within a span of 24 hours.

They eventually chose to prioritize the World Cup, letting their youth players deal with Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup.

It will be interesting to see who Solskjaer picks for the game tomorrow. Even if both managers are amicable off the pitch, there will be no love lost on the field tomorrow.
