90’s Football Hall of Fame: Peter Schmeichel | OneFootball

Former Man United, Aston Villa and Man City goalie Peter Schmeichel is the latest inductee into the 90’s Football Hall of Fame.

Considered by many to be the greatest goalkeeper to have ever played the game of football, the Danish shot stopper spent eight glorious years with Manchester United, where he won five Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

Move past the impressive honours list and there is more to this man than meets the eye. Schmeichel was a player with outrageous self-belief, to the point where he would refuse to accept liability for any mistakes he made or goals conceded. He rubbed up many of his peers and even teammates the wrong way with his famed arrogance, which is probably why he only made the PFA Team of the Year once.
