Swansea City could be preparing for a big summer in the transfer market.

Steve Cooper’s side have enjoyed a good season on the whole with the club very much in the mix for promotion from start to finish.

While automatic promotion looks like it’s off the table the club still have every chance of going up with a place in the play-offs all-but confirmed for the club.

Whichever division Swansea find themselves in there’s likely to be a significant amount of transfer business done this summer as they prepare to kick on again next time around.

Whether that’s challenging for promotion or battling to avoid the drop from the top flight, recruitment will be key this summer.

But who could sign for Swansea City? We take a look at some of the contenders.

The midfielder is bound to be on Swansea City’s shopping list this summer.

Hourihane moved to South Wales in the January transfer window after falling out of favour with Aston Villa and made an immediate impression as he helped the club during the second half of their campaign.

Having made 19 appearances for the Swans the midfielder has scored five goals to help the club’s promotion push.

With a year left on his contract it seems unlikely that the 30-year-old will be returning to Dean Smith’s plans this summer and that means that the door could be open to a move away.

Based on his performances this term it would be a surprise if Swansea didn’t make a move.

Arguably one of the hottest properties in the EFL right now.

The Peterborough United striker has scored 28 times for the Posh in League One this term as the club continue their pursuit of automatic promotion to the Championship.

Reports from Football League World have suggested that Swansea City could rival Cardiff City to sign the attacker this summer.

Signing a striker is a priority for the Swans this summer and so a move for the 26-year-old certainly wouldn’t be much of a surprise.

However with plenty of competition likely it’ll be interesting to see where he starts the new season.

An interesting link, for sure.

Kean Bryan currently plays for Sheffield United where his contract is due to expire this summer.

Reports from Football Insider have claimed that the Swans, Fulham and Burnley could be keen on a move for the centre-back who seems like a contender to move on.

Bryan has often struggled for first team football at Bramall Lane but after starting seven of their last 10 matches it remains to be seen if he has a future.

That said it sounds like the Swans are certainly keen to try their luck with a move for the 24-year-old.

The latest Exeter City star who is tipped for a big future in the game.

Randall has enjoyed a wonderful season in League Two after scoring eight and creating four in 30 appearances for the club.

That reportedly led to interest from Swansea City, Charlton Athletic and Celtic during the January transfer window, however now move away occurred.

With the season nearly complete it’ll be interesting to see if the 21-year-old left winger remains a target for the Swans.

However with a focus likely to be on improving their offensive options this could be one to watch for.

Another player who was heavily linked with a move to Swansea City in the January transfer window.

Football Insider claimed that Swansea City were keen to make a permanent move for the player who faces an uncertain future with Arsenal with his contract due to expire this summer.

The talented striker now looks set to pen a new deal in North London, however there’s likely to be a decent chance that he could leave on loan this summer.

Whether the Swans will make a move to sign him on loan remains to be seen, but given their interest in January he’s clearly a player who is one their radar.

The winger could also be on the move again this summer.

Clarke has endured a mixed time since moving to Tottenham Hotspur in January 2019 with first team opportunities proving difficult to come by.

Mixed spells on loan with Leeds United and QPR started his life at the club, while this term he’s spent time with Stoke City where he was starting to show his quality for the Potters.

That loan spell has now ended due to injury, but there’s no doubt that he’ll be heading out on loan again this summer.

Swansea are likely to be looking for a winger and based on the club’s January interest it wouldn’t be out of the question for Steve Cooper’s side to make a new move.

The midfielder is likely to attract significant interest from the Championship this summer.

Mpanzu has enjoyed a good season for Luton Town this term in which he’s made 39 appearances for the Hatters this season.

Reports back in the January transfer window claimed that Swansea City, West Brom and Norwich City were all keen on the 26-year-old who is out of contract this summer.

However with the club holding an option on his deal it means that they perhaps hold the cards.

But if Swansea City can convince the player to join then there’s no doubt that this is a move that should be watched closely.

With Swansea City determined to sign a striker a move for the Rochdale man could be appealing.

Reports from The 72 last week claimed that the Swans had emerged as new candidates to sign the 23-year-old who has been catching the eyes of Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City, Stoke City and Preston North End this term.

The 23-year-old has netted 10 times in 27 appearances this term which shows just how impressive his record in front of goal is.

Swansea are clearly keen to sign a new striker this summer and a move for the League One star could perhaps offer a slightly more cost-effective solution than other targets mentioned.

However with such strong competition it could be a tough one to pull off.
