Manchester United shared the spoils in yesterday’s Europa League clash against Fenerbahce.

The Red Devils went into the game on the back of an impressive 2-1 comeback win over Brentford in the Premier League.

They had momentum on their side, but were unable to pick up a second-straight victory after the international break.

Christian Eriksen opened the scoring with a splendid long-range effort in the 15th minute.

United could have conceded before the interval, but Manuel Ugarte and Andre Onana preserved their lead with key moments.

Ugarte made a goal-line clearance while Onana denied them with a stellar double save which Jose Mourinho couldn’t believe.

Despite their efforts, Fenerbahce scored immediately after the break through Youssef En-Nesyri’s header.

Victor Lindelof was largely at fault for the goal after he bizarrely did not jump to clear his lines.

The Swede was substituted immediately after the goal alongside Joshua Zirkzee, who had a dreadful game leading the attack.

The Dutchman got a surprise start ahead of the in-form Rasmus Hojlund, but he failed to capitalise with a lacklustre display up front.

He made just eight passes, winning two out of eight duels contested. He lost possession on seven occasions over 55 minutes.

Zirkzee did get the assist for Eriksen’s goal, but that was due to the brilliance of the Dane, who unleashed a fine long-range strike.

The £37 million signing was obviously United’s worst player alongside Lindelof and he is likely to drop to the bench on Sunday.

Hojlund was probably given a breather due to his injury record in the past and the Dane should start against West Ham United.
