An insight into the remarkable personnel crisis facing Sevilla ahead of the upcoming round of La Liga fixtures has today been provided.

The info comes courtesy of Mundo Deportivo, who have confirmed that the Andalusians will mark their return to action against Real Sociedad on Saturday sans the services of a hefty 12 first-team stars.

Still sidelined owing to injury at present are all of Marcao, Marcos Acuña, Joan Jordán, Mariano Díaz, and Lucien Agoumé.

Despite having linked back up with the rest of Quique’s squad in training this week, the trio of Erik Lamela, Nemanja Gudelj and Dodi Lukebakio, meanwhile, have too been deemed not yet ready for matchday duties.

They join the suspended pairing of Lucas Ocampos and Djibril Sow in being ruled out against Sociedad.

It has therefore come as something of a shock to see both Adnan Januzaj and Rafa Mir also absent from Sevilla’s latest squad.

Amid the crisis facing Quique at present, the widespread expectation was that attacking pair Januzaj and Mir would at the least be afforded a spot on the bench for Saturday’s action at The Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán.

Instead, though, the Nervionenses’ headmaster has opted to call upon no fewer than seven members of the club’s youth ranks.

MD point towards as much being a ‘technical decision’.

Whatever the case, Sevilla are set to welcome Real Sociedad to Andalusia on Saturday afternoon some way short of full strength.
