One outlet has recommended that Chelsea look a bit closer to home for their new striker when it comes to a search this summer.
The Blues continue to get linked to some big names up top as they look to improve on recent fate. They did manage to win their last Premier League game against Southampton though, without a striker.
The Blues won the game 4-0 in what was a much needed convincing performance, with goals coming from Christopher Nkunku, Pedro Neto, Levi Colwill, and Marc Cucurella.
The Saints were a very poor opposition of course, but Chelsea really needed a big win and a big performance, and that is exactly what they did last night right in the nick of time as they look to keep challenging for that all important Champions League spot.
Neto was superb playing as the number 9 and as well as getting his goal, he has explained why he loves playing as a striker with a hilarious answer!
But come the summer, they will be back in the market for a new number 9, and it is going to be a very important position they need to bring in.
The Chelsea Chronicle believe Chelsea should look closer to home in their new striker search by trying to sign one of their own BlueCo owned players from Strasbourg.
They write:
‘The answer for the Blues may be closer to home than they realise, coming at fellow BlueCo owned club, Strasbourg.
‘The Ligue 1 side are currently operating with Emanuel Emegha up front, and he is enjoying a glorious run of form in front of goal.
‘The 22-year-old has eight goals and an assist in his last nine games for Liam Rosenior’s side, and has been a big part of them pushing towards the European places.
‘Chelsea are going to need to spend big money if they want to add the top players they also require at the back and between the sticks, and Emegha could provide serious competition for Jackson without breaking the bank.
‘Standing at a giant 6ft 5in tall, Emegha has a physical profile in the striker position which Chelsea are desperately lacking right now.’
