The recent spotlight on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s considerable salary at Olympique Marseille (OM) has stirred discussions about the financial impact on the club.

The former Arsenal captain, who signed from Chelsea where he flopped, has shown promising form at OM, challenging himself to live up to the high expectations set by his significant earnings.

A recent report has brought attention to the substantial salary of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Olympique Marseille (OM), raising questions about the financial implications for the club.

Aubameyang, a flagship recruit in the last summer transfer window, joined OM following the termination of his contract with Chelsea.

The 34-year-old Gabonese striker, known for his past successes with Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona, has been making bug strides at OM. Despite a slow start, Aubameyang’s mid-season tally stands at 12 goals and seven assists in 24 games across all competitions.

According to the report, the striker’s current earnings at OM are reportedly around €700,000 per month. This figure is significant, especially for a club like OM, which did not qualify for the Champions League, impacting its financial situation.

In July, Aubameyang spoke about his decision to join OM, highlighting the club’s atmosphere and project. “Why did you choose OM? Because it’s Marseille, quite simply. I need to find a stadium that vibrates. The club’s project is super interesting. We have seen it in recent seasons, OM is doing better and better. I think this is the ideal continuation for my career,” the striker said on the official OM website.

Aubameyang’s arrival at OM was seen as a move to fill the void left by Alexis Sanchez, who had an impressive run at the club.

The Gabonese forward’s arrival came with high expectations, and his performance so far, though showing promise, puts his substantial salary into perspective.

The club and its fans will be keen to see if Aubameyang continues to strengthen his impact, justifying his significant earnings at the club.

When he left Arsenal, Auba was earning around half what he is now.
