Two more members of the first-team setup at La Liga giants Barcelona on Tuesday joined the list of those walking the disciplinary tightrope ahead of the next round of the Champions League.
Barca, of course, are fresh off booking their spot in the last eight of European football’s elite club competition.
Tasked with getting the better of Serie A champions Napoli after a 1-1 first leg stalemate in Italy, the Blaugrana managed precisely that.
Goals on the part of all of Fermín López, João Cancelo and Robert Lewandowski gave rise to an eventual 3-1 triumph, sparking well-earned celebrations at Montjuïc.
Barcelona, as a result, will join a whole host of the continent’s heavyweight clubs in Friday’s draw for the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
And yet, ahead of their upcoming first leg meeting with an as of yet undetermined opponent, Xavi and his coaching staff will be sweating over a whole host of key performers.
This comes after two more of the Catalans’ stars joined the list of those just a single yellow card away from suspension.
After picking up respective bookings against Napoli, Lamine Yamal and Andreas Christensen have joined the trio of Ronald Araújo, João Félix and Sergi Roberto, as well as sidelined pair Frenkie de Jong and Ferran Torres, on the disciplinary tightrope.
Should any of these seven players be shown a yellow card in the first leg of Barca’s quarter-final tie, they will therefore be forced to watch on from the sidelines for the return clash.
