£60M For Rangers Sees Clement ‘Vindicated’ As Rangers Begin Trading

As Rangers fans will now be aware, there is major interest in three marquee assets at Ibrox. Those are Nico Raskin, who is attracting a number of clubs, with a price set at around £25m to £30m. Hamza Igamane, who is strongly linked with Lille in France, is expected to command a fee in the region of £20m. And last but not least, the new standout performer, Mohamed Diomande, who is wanted by Besiktas in Turkey, with a current offer believed to be around £10m.

The first thing that strikes Ibrox Noise about these bids is how they serve as belated vindication for former manager Philippe Clement. He was repeatedly criticised for a broken trading model and for trying to implement a new one. His strategy was to bring in untapped gems from lesser-known markets — something many ex-managers attempted before him. The difference is, this summer, we are seeing results. Real money is being offered for young players, all aged 24 or under, which fits with the idea of a major overhaul that has been discussed for months.

In theory, if all three were sold, Rangers could be looking at around £60m in profit. Raskin cost just £1.5m from Standard Liège. Selling him for anything close to £30m would be an enormous return. Diomande was signed from Nordsjælland in Denmark for £4.5m as an obligation — a sale around £15m would bring in £10m profit, as previously discussed on Ibrox Noise.

And then there’s Igamane, signed from FAR Rabat for around £2m. The exact fee is a bit unclear, but a £20m sale would generate massive profit — albeit with a 30% sell-on clause reportedly due to the Moroccan club. Still, that would mean a return of roughly £20m, once that clause is deducted.

Taken together, Diomande’s £10m, Igamane’s £20m, and Raskin’s £30m gives us a theoretical gross profit of around £60m. This is precisely the trading model Clement tried to introduce. He didn’t get everything right as Rangers manager, but time may now be vindicating some of his signings — even though Raskin was actually brought in by Michael Beale.

Nonetheless, the idea of a working trading model finally emerging at Ibrox may not be far-fetched anymore. Time will tell if any of these players are sold for the fees being reported — but the signs are certainly encouraging.
