How could a manager with a win % of 6% at Premier League Southampton possibly do any better at Rangers? Russell Martin win percentage analysed.

Well, in Russell Martin’s defence, he has.

Of his 14 matches as Rangers manager, including friendlies, he has won 5.

That’s a 37% win rate. It’s not quite as horrific as his Southampton tally.

In competitive matches? 3 wins of 8. 37%. Same number.

Those bright souls who shouted ‘they’re only friendlies ffs’ when defending this clueless chancer were bang on. His 33% win rate in those 6 friendlies has now skyrocketed to 37% in the real action.

They nailed it. And yes. That’s sarcasm.

What planet was anyone on who backed Martin based on a 6% win rate at Premier League Southampton.

What made them think ‘yes, the club is making the right choice here’ when appointing a cheap option who was desperate for the job?

The club wanted the cheap guy – the hipsters in Rangers’ support reckoned this guy was 100% the right man.

No, sadly he is not.

A 37% win rate does exceed Barry, who at 33% is Rangers’ statistically-worst manager, but he got a win at Parkhead and did overcome Fenerbahce. We don’t know how. Russell Martin win percentage really isn’t great.

But as permanent managers go, nothing has ever been as atrocious as Russell Martin.
