Aster Vranckx is a talent to be discovered and nurtured. As we wait to see him on the pitch in our jersey, let's try to get to know him better through some interesting facts.

ROSSONERI CONNECTIONS In the first part of the 2021/22 season, Vranckx was coached at Wolfsburg by ex-Milanista Mark van Bommel. However, the Dutchman's experience in the dugout only lasted until 24 October. In Group G of the previous Champions League he also faced Salzburg (starting in both matches), our first opponent in our European campaign this season.

PATTERNS AND SIMILARITIES In Belgium has has often been compared to Axel Witsel, a pillar of the Belgian national side, probably because as a youngster, Aster also imitated the curly hairstyle of the midfielder now at Atletico Madrid. Football-wise, he has always had a penchant for another Belgian, Kevin De Bruyne, and interestingly, they have both donned the Wolfsburg jersey.

YOU TOO Aster Vranckx was ranked the second best talent in Belgian football in 2020. In first place? Yes, none other than Charles De Ketelaere. He has played together with CDK five times in career so far, four with the U19 national team and onece with the U21.

DREAMCHASER Aster has this inscription tattooed on his left arm: 'he who follows his dreams', such as that of making it to a prestigious club like the Rossoneri. What will be next?

MR X The surname Vranckx marks an unusual first in Milan's history: the first to end with the letter X, just as the previous signing Thiaw wears on his back the first surname in Milan's long history to end with a W.

LARGE BELGIAN FAMILY Born in Belgium, to a family of Congolese origin, he becomes the fourth Belgian player in AC Milan's current squad after Saelemaekers, Origi e De Ketelaere. Before them, the Belgian contingent at AC Milan had not been so strong: the most recent Eric Gerets, a one season signing in 1983/84 under the orders of Ilario Castagner and later of Italo Galbiati. To find any others, you'd have to go back to the 1910s: the most notable is certainly Louis van Hege, but Camille Nys and Maurice Tobias, who also shared an allegiance with to Mechelen like Vranckx, should also be mentioned.
