FC Barcelona took on UD Barbastro in the Copa del Rey Round of 32 clash last night and Hansi Flick’s men expectedly ran 4-0 winners on the night. Having struggled in these one-legged away ties against lower-division teams in recent times, this was refreshing and calming.

A brace from Robert Lewandowski along with goals from Eric Garcia and Pablo Torre helped the Catalan club get past the third division side. The latter in particular was on song throughout the night, even while being deployed on the right.

Whenever Pablo Torre has played so far this season, he has almost always caught the eye. Despite this, Hansi Flick is somewhat reluctant to give him regular minutes, although the 21-year-old could have a significant role to play in the second half of the season.

As revealed by stats from Sofascore, Pablo Torre was simply unstoppable against the third-division side and his performance wasn’t just restricted to the goal and the two assists he provided on the night, one of which was Bergkamp-esque.

In the 81 minutes he played on the pitch, Torre recorded 66 touches of the ball and completed 38 of the 46 passes that he attempted. He recorded six key passes and completed five out of his seven attempted crosses on the night.

Torre also found his target with all of his three attempted long passes. He won three out of his eight ground duels and was also fouled thrice. Overall, he walked away from last night’s game as the best player on both sides.

With the future of Dani Olmo at Barcelona far from certain and there being a good chance of him not being registered for the second half of the season, Torre’s role in the squad becomes all the more important in the coming weeks.

However, it remains to be seen just how much trust Flick is ready to place on Torre going forward. Despite his incredible performance last night, he was one of those taken off around the 82nd minute to make way for Toni Fernandez.

Regardless, what Pablo Torre is continually proving this season is that he isn’t a player to sleep on. He possesses a magical right foot and let’s wait and see if this is the take-off that his Barcelona career needed.
