53 years since winning the 13th league title

Real Madrid won their thirteenth league title on 20 April 1968. Miguel Muñoz's side sealed the championship in front of their home fans on the penultimate matchday, with a 2-1 win over UD Las Palmas with Velázquez and Pirri on the scoresheet.

The result put the title out of reach for the side from the Canary Islands, who were second in the table and finished third, behind Barcelona when ended runners-up. Madrid's top scorers that season were Amancio, Velázquez and Pirri, with 10 goals each. Real Madrid also finished with the best defensive record, concededing the fewest goals with 26, and Junquera won the Trofreo Zamora of that campaign.
