Some of Leeds United's transfer business last season can definitely be questioned.

Of the players that joined last term, Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and Max Wober have all left the club on loan - and both Tyler Adams and Luis Sinisterra left the club permanently.

In fairness, Sinisterra wasn't a bad signing, but the fact he has been sold already is disappointing. Former loanee Weston McKennie also proved to be a disastrous signing.

However, Willy Gnonto, who joined back in September 2022, looks set to make the Whites a sizeable profit.

Joining as a teenager, Gnonto shouldn't have been expected to make a big impact during his first season at Elland Road.

However, he did a very respectable job, registering four goals and four assists in 28 competitive appearances last term, with one of those goals coming against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Ahead of this season, the Italian should have been looking to build on an excellent first campaign in West Yorkshire, but he was caught up in a huge transfer saga last summer and even made himself unavailable for a couple of games in August as he looked to seal an exit.

Luckily for him, this situation was cleared up, but an ankle injury he sustained at Hull City and his lack of starts meant he didn't enjoy the best start to 2023/24.

However, it has been a different story for him in 2024, and he has been able to take his total up to double figures in terms of his goalscoring contributions (goals and assists) this term.

Playing regularly now and showing his ability to play both as a winger and a more central player, he is showing why he is such a highly-rated player.

With his contract not expiring until 2027, and with the player only coming in for a reported £3.8m from FC Zurich, the Whites look set to make a big profit on him in the future.

Summerville came in for £1.3m from Feyenoord back in 2020 and although he always looked to be a good addition, he has taken his game to another level this season.

He is one player who has definitely benefitted from the Whites' relegation, with that and subsequent player departures allowing him to establish himself as a key player at Elland Road.

It's no surprise that he was given the Championship Player of the Year gong at the EFL Awards, with his contributions keeping Leeds in the automatic promotion mix.

With his contract expiring in the summer of 2026, you feel he could potentially be sold this summer if the Whites aren't promoted but if they do sell him, that could make them a huge amount of money.

And the 22-year-old could leave for even more in the future if he signs a new contract, something that could easily happen if Leeds are promoted.

In either situation, he's likely to leave for much more than the £1.3m they recruited him for less than four years ago.
